And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. Jeremiah 29:7
I used to think that it was just right for me to stay in my one corner minding my own business… I thought I only had to be concerned with my personal relationship with God, followship other saints, family, friends and my job. Hardly would I intentionally lift up prayers for nations, well I did pray for my nation occasionally.
It is shameful, but I repented when I had an encounter with Jeremiah 29:7. This scripture caused a shift in my thinking.
Dear believers, our peace has been tied to the nation we find ourselves in. It is our responsibility to treat our nation as we’d our church. We must pray ceaselessly for it, and after, follow through with prayer inspired actions.
Whether you like it or not there is a purpose for which God allowed you to be birthed in the country you find yourself in, do not despise it. Who knows, you might have been brought up for such a time as this like Esther to bring freedom to God’s people.
Don’t try to excuse yourself from working for the good of your nation.
Don’t think that if there is chaos you’ll be excluded just because you’re a Christian, you’ll also experience the trouble and hardships because you failed to influence it positively.
Do not reserve the knowledge and wisdom God has given you to yourself and still expect the nation to miraculously progress. We’ve done lots of praying already, it’s time to act and influence with kingdom principles.
May God have mercy on us as we repent and do things the right and honorable way.
