Communion with God is essential if we want to know Him. This does not take a day, and not even a lifetime will suffice in unraveling the personality of God. Yet as we draw closer and closer each day through the Son and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we find things we didn’t know the last moment we checked in. And they’re astonishingly sweet!
Knowing about someone or a thing does not imply intimacy. So the other day the sons of Sceva could not access the power in the name Jesus because they had no personal revelation of that name like Paul did, they just knew about the name, mere knowledge! And rather than triumphing over evil spirits. They ended up with severe beatings. (Acts 19:11-20)
This has become the story of some believers, whereby the name of Jesus is used by them but it seem as though the name lost its power a while ago before it got to their turn.
And in effect end up being beaten up by life circumstances and instances where they should’ve walked triumphantly over all because we confuse knowing about Jesus to mean knowing Him which is a product of an intimate relationship.
Truth is, you can not effectively utilize a Word without first encountering The Word. You cannot use the name Jesus in full power without a personal revelation of Him.
Do you want God’s blessings on your life? The greatest blessing doesn’t come from God’s hand but in His face, In intimate relationship. I believe so!
Unfortunately we have become so busy with activities that we don’t get to even spend quality time with Him. What are we replacing the sweetness of intimacy with Him with? Is anything worth more than our fellowship with our Father?
If we are not careful we will get caught up in doing things for Him that we actually forget about Him.
We will host a party(Service) for God but we will end up trading presents with each other while totally ignoring Him! The one for whom the party has been organized!
But in the end this is what Jesus says…
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17:3)
Do you know God? Do you know the Son, Jesus Christ?
Answering the question above will determine whether you’ve got eternal life or not.
…So think about it and take the necessary action! God help us!
