If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. (John 15:10)
Obedience isn’t just a sign of respect but a sign of love.
No one can claim to love another without submitting.
We knew not what Love was all about until we were shown. Love showed us who He was by demonstrating it all on the cross.
But we can only replicate this Love when we remain in Love(God) and Love in us, for God’s Love is by experience and not by explanation.
Truth is, it’s easier to fall in love than to stay in Love. That’s why Jesus says keep my commands and as you do that you abide in my love.
Keeping the commands is at all times not when you feel like it. It is a decision you make to stay in love and stand by that no matter what. Yes, to remain in love even when all the sweetness has been licked off the candy of Love, when it isn’t sweet anymore you must keep licking as though now sweetest.
When humanly speaking the commands seem too tough to adhere to, you must stick to Love, for that’s the only reason you’d ever do something outside the norm.
How many times have you done something just because of whom the instruction came from? But probably wouldn’t have adhered to the same instruction had it come from someone else.
If there is one thing I know about loving someone, it is that you always want to please that person and never would you do something intentionally to hurt them. Because hurting them is like hurting yourself, and who in his right frame of mind harms himself rather than protecting?
When we get deeply rooted in the love of God and experience the sweetness of intimacy with Him, we’d have no trouble following Him because love will always lead the way.
It’s time to get intimate with the Lord, for intimacy is in itself an end to us struggling to please the one we profess to love; Jesus.
