Scriptures: Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:5; 5:1; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
Gospel simply means good news. It is thought to be coined from the Anglo-Saxon region and meant “God’s spell” due to the radical change it brings its beneficiaries by character and nature. We preach not the law, which is not good news nor peace. Christ is our peace. He paid for it, “the chastisement for our peace was exacted from him” (Isaiah 53:5) and the whole Gospel is about the peace of God unto all –peace with God because of the perfect finished work of Jesus.
Why should our feet be fit with shoes of the Gospel of peace? Because that is what Christianity is all about; making others conscious of the peace they have with God. When we teach the law we make people see their flaws and think they have a problem so God is not pleased with them. That is no Good News, is it? The law could not save man from God’s righteous anger towards sin but grace did in a New Covenant cut in the blood of the Lamb of God by which God is well pleased.
“My peace I leave with you, not as the world gives peace do I give unto you” (John 14:27). In this peace is no insecurity as the world’s. There is absolute communion with the Father of Lights, His Son and the Holy Spirit.
Our feet are our means of movement by reason of distance. God wants this peace to guide our steps, to be peaceful and share that peace upon every soil we tread. To peach the grace and truth we must have peace with God first then we can stand.
In prayer (warfare) therefore, it is imperative that we know we have peace with the most important person in the universe and knowing He is on our side we win. With this bestowed peace we act and react peacefully with others even as we share the truth with them. Our feet are made beautiful upon the mountains by Jesus Christ; be ready to share this peace with all as it is written, “How lovely upon the mountains are the feet of them who preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things” (Isaiah 52:7)
Prayer: Dear Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always shod my feet with the gospel of peace in every setting of my life to reveal your glory and grace, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
