Scriptures: Ephesians 6:13-17; Isaiah 11:5; 1 Peter 1:13
Truth, what is truth?
A belt is that which we bind or hold our clothing together on our bodies. It holds the armor fit on us and we are required firstly to take that tool – the belt of truth. Truth holds the armor together. Without it we are loose and not whole.
Truth is Jesus Christ! “For the law was given by Moses but truth and grace came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). Truth came as a person; “sanctify them with Thy word, Thy Word is truth” (John 17:17). Jesus is the Word of God made flesh hence He declares, “I am the way, the TRUTH, the life…” (John 14:6). Therefore, Truth = Jesus = The Word of God. Without the word we would not even know we are in a battle, who we are and what we are living for. By the truth we know all these as a foundation to life.
1 Peter 1:13, tells us, “Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind…” Our minds must be filled with the Word of God. We must meditate thereon day and night. A believer who does not know the Word is always under the enemy’s pleasure, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” The devil only wants to get the truth away from us because without it we are lost hence the first tool we are told to take up is Truth’s belt.
Beloved, with the truth comes knowledge and wisdom of all the other parts of the armor – your righteousness in Christ, the Gospel itself, faith and salvation. It is the very same truth which is the sword we fight with. No philosophy nor science nor new age enlightenment can successfully eradicate the truth in Christ Jesus. Everything in this world is subject to it and is held by it. Therefore, hold it dear, cherish it as life, soak yourself into it and understand it and you will see every battle a done deal.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for your truth that liberates us. As I take this belt of truth this day, my battle-life takes on power and a standing like never before. I will not fail nor falter nor cower in Jesus’ name. Amen.
