Let us all come forward and draw near with true hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:22)
FOR SINCE the Law has merely a rude outline of the good things to come, instead of fully expressing those things. It can never by offering the same sacrifices continually year after year make perfect those who approach its altars. For if it were otherwise, would these sacrifices not have stopped being offered? Since the worshipers had once for all been cleansed, they would no longer have any guilt or consciousness of sin.
But as it is these sacrifices annually bring a fresh remembrance of sins to be atoned for all because the blood of bulls and goats is powerless to take sins away.
In the old testament access to God in the tabernacle and the temple was strictly limited. Only “specially prepared people” The high priest, had access to the most holy place and even that, he enjoyed that privilege only once a year. (Lev 16:2-20, Heb 9:25-26)
This changed the very moment Christ Jesus died, because truly as scripture confirms, God never delighted in those burnt and sin offerings for they never really served the purpose intended. By the death of Christ, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, showing that the barrier between man and God was destroyed forever. (Mark 15:38)
So, because of Christ’s sacrifice for our sins, all those who love and follow Him can come into His presence at ANY TIME. He has given us the right of access. Unlimited access to the Father has been granted through the perfect sacrifice, Jesus. Why enter His presence yearly because of something He hasn’t even condemned you for, when you can boldly enter his presence any time to obtain his mercy in whatever times you find yourself in?
Thank you, Lord, for the price paid to enable me have unrestricted entry into your presence.
