“He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man, he could not, because of the crowd.” Luke 19:3
WHEN YOU encounter Jesus, you encounter eternal life and from that moment your life turns around completely from the natural, to the supernatural where you begin to enjoy heaven even here on earth.
Scripture talks about a man named Zacchaeus, a very rich man who heard about Jesus, and for that matter needed to see Him, or rather sought to see Him. When that desire came, he was at the same time confronted with the reality, that he was a short man and would have no chance to meet up with Jesus face to face.
Everywhere Jesus was, most times He was surrounded by multitudes unless He withdrew to have a personal time with His Father in heaven. Zacchaeus could’ve accepted his reality and just give up, go back home and sleep his worries off but no, he did not. He did not let the “buts” and the “because” that justified his “buts” keep him from seeing what he desired. So, he ran!
If you so much desire to see Jesus, you need the next level mentality. This means that when everyone is crowded around Him, doing practically nothing, you’ve got to think ahead. Now this isn’t as easy as it may sound. First Zacchaeus had to ran ahead of the crowd, to execute his idea fast enough, and after running ahead, he didn’t stop to rest, he climbed the tree to rest on top while he waited on Jesus. Can you just imagine the hustle he had to go through just to have his desire of seeing Jesus become reality?
You see, Zacchaeus was determined, that guy was rich, but his actions was opposite what under normal circumstance his position would have him do. He didn’t allow, his money, people’s gossip, pride and even his physical state to get in the way of what he desired. Guess what, his hustle paid off big time!
And when Jesus reached the place, He looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today. (Luke 19:5)
Wow! Isn’t this amazing?
What is it that you seek? Why are you allowing all the but’s in your life to get in your way justifying yourself with all the because you can get. Need I remind you of what Hebrews 11:6 says? Well it says that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him? Are you a diligent seeker as Zacchaeus was? Then You will surely find!
