Yaaay! It’s Tuesday and I love Tuesdays. See me in chambers for the reason(wink).
I trust you are doing well? We must remember to be grateful to God for everything and most importantly for the gift of life.
Let’s get down on Reflections, shall we?
I understand that sometimes our plans do not go the way we envisaged but we could look at it from a different angle. That is, maybe it is part of God’s plan for our plans to scatter so that His divine plan will be made manifest.
The beautiful ones are not yet born is not an uncommon phrase. We may have had our own interpretation, which is likely to be off the originator’s. The content of today’s message is simple and succinct but for what it is worth I would like to share a little bit of history.
The phrase has jestingly been misinterpreted to mean those (especially girls) who are yet to be born will be prettier than those who are already in existence. Funny innit? Yeah.
Ayi Kwei Armah entitled his debut novel “the beautiful ones are not yet born“. He is the originator of the phrase. In one sentence, I would say the writer tried to express the frustrations that arose in many citizens after countries like Ghana became an independent state.
So you see, this phrase has nothing to do with physical comeliness. Having established the etymology of the phrase I would like to borrow it and like many, carve out a different meaning for the sake of this piece.
In the use of the phrase what I actually mean is *your glory days are on the way*.
We may not know what the future holds but we know who holds the future- God. With Him we are rest assured of a glorious one. In Jeremiah 29:11 the Lord tells Jeremiah and by extension to the believer that _*I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future*_.
Things may not be exactly what we anticipated but like the song writer says, ‘ *our end is the glory of the Lord*’. You may have been rejected but you shall be that master cornerstone. Do not lose hope yet. Some years from now, we will look back and realise we did ourselves a great disservice by fretting over issues God was already in control of.
You see, when God gives you a vision He most often does not add the process. When Joseph had the vision of greatness he did not know he was going to crawl his way through the pit to the dungeon and endure some disappointments.
What vision do you carry? Keep the dream alive. Even when you fall, fall forward.!! Endure the disappointments and the rejections. When you look critically at the success stories of great achievers you will realise they also went through the meandering roads, potholes, roadblocks, and had punctured tires and failed brakes when they set out on the journey of ‘beautiful’.
Your glory days are ahead of you. For those who are blessed to have enjoyed some glory already you still cannot rest on your laurels. Be grateful for them but prepare for the next level. Trust God for greater heights.
If we do not back down we will surely succeed. Rejoice in the knowledge that as sure as the sun rises from the East, our situation will improve. Write it where you will mostly see it that THE BEAUTIFUL ONES ARE NOT YET BORN. Reflect on these…
