Scripture: Philippians 2:8“And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross”
We bless the Almighty Father for yet another wonderful day to talk about His Son Jesus. We will continue today to talk about imitating Christ Jesus in obedience.
As believers one of the important things, required of us is being Obedient and paying heed to the commands of God.
Look through scriptures cover to cover and you will realize that the one thing God desires of His children is for them to obey him, where obedience means total obedience like that portrayed by Jesus Christ.
Christ was Obedient to the point of death without giving up. He had the power to free himself. However, He didn’t because He knew who had sent him.
Jesus laid down His will for the ultimate will of His Father to come through and even now we are all enjoying the fruit of His sacrifice.
Bible says in Luke 2:40
“And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him”.
This is because He was an obedient Child. Who doesn’t love an obedient and respectful child?
Even our earthly parents know how to pamper obedient children by giving them what they don’t even ask for.
As believers who have been called and born of God, we must endeavour to obey the commands of God . We must never use our circumstances as a leverage for disobeying God. From scriptures we see characters like Adam and Eve, Saul,Moses to mention few, and the high prices they paid for disobeying God.
Sometimes things may be tough and we may think “God this is too much for me” but in all that we must look to Jesus Christ who is our perfect example and the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus Christ’s reward for His obedience was that, He was seated at the right hand of the Father, a place of authority and given a name above all names.
Living like Christ in obedience, we shall be exalted and lifted up high experiencing the unending favour of God.
It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will ignite this awesome nature of Christ in us to be like Him. Amen!
