Actions have Effects

Luke 5:4-8
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

In life, we all need people to direct us and help us get to our destination, a few useful words of advice in the initial stage of a business can go along way of preventing one from going into wrong deals.
We certain need each other to survive because we are not islands, but sometimes our human nature gets in the way of other people’s success.

Without help one can waste precious time and energy on the right things but at the wrong time.

So this man, simon Peter had been fishing his whole life and therefore had experience in that field, infact he was an expert in fishing.
But on that faithful day his toil to get some fish proved futile until he met Jesus, someone whom physically was a carpenter.(take not of the difference in trades)

This man gave instructions to Simon after sharing some words with him and all those with him and for a second Simon thought, who does this man take me to be by giving me, a chief fisherman these instruction when i have worked hard the whole night but to no avail.
I sense it was a very dicey situation, but Simon realized he would not loose anything for atleast trying, he just had to give what that guy said a shot and he respected Jesus enough to put his words into action.

Sometimes in life we find ourselves struggling for certain things because we have no one to direct us or give us a safe passage to our destination just us Simon, i thought to myself,
Would he had to work the whole night if he had met Jesus early on? Certainly not but then again every thing happens for a reason to the glory of God.

We most often need people to let out these words on us to prevent us from wasting precious time and energy on a thing that should have taken lesser time to achieve,
“Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
These are specific instructs, just straight to the point!

Lessons learnt from this passage.
1. Simon was a fisherman but that did not prevent him from making use of the wisdom of a carpenter.

So in life our blessing can come from any direction and in any form. We just must be ready to hear and obey and overlook our achievements because sometimes they blind us.

2. Simon was humble enough to overlook his experience and just tried what Jesus had said.

When you go through some situations that needs urgent attention, God can pass your solution through a child or someone below you in qualification just to try you, but when you get pass the physical and humble yourself enough to realize the move of God, you will find your long lasting solution.

The blessings of God are not far from us, they are very close but disguised and so it will take one with a humble spirit to take note of it.

3. After receiving the blessings of God when they obeyed instructions, they did not enjoy the benefits alone but shared with others.

This is where the problem lies for us humans, sometimes God blesses us so we can help others.

That is why the bible says in Proverbs 10:22 that it is the blessings of the Lord that makes rich, without painful toil for it.
Do not forget that the same bible talks about the fact that idle hand should not eat.
In actual sense Jesus saw that Simon was a hardworking man and it was easier to bless such a person because he would not waste the blessing.

God makes us rich lest we boast not in it saying i worked for this and i made it on my own so i will enjoy alone sure, but remember that you will also die alone.

Sometimes people turn blind eyes to the needs of their brothers even when God has blessed them abundantly just because of selfish reasons and pride.
Remember there is always blessings in giving than receiving and that person you are giving help to today could be the one to lead your child leading a stray life to Christ.

Let us remember the great sacrifice Christ made for us in our worse state and be open to all.

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for the gift of life, i am indeed grateful and i bless you for who you are. Father forgive me of all errors and wash me that i may me clean. Help me stay connected to you at all times so as to know your ways.
Bring helpers my way dear Lord, to help me get to the desired destination without struggles. May i never miss any blessing because of pride and ignorance and help me bless others with your blessings in Jesus’s name have i prayed with thanksgiving, Amen.
